To Make You Feel My Love Page 14

“Honey, are you okay?” Becky asked concerned.

“Oh, yeah, I’m fine. I just need to make sure they don’t need anything. I’ve abandoned them this week. I’ll meet up with you guys in a bit, okay?”

“Alana?” Logan grabbed her hand as she starting walking away, questioning her with his eyes.

“It’s okay, I swear.” Crossing her heart, she blew him a kiss and walked away.

Dammit, he fucked up. He knew it was too soon to express his feelings. Now, she thought he was a damn stalker. He wasn’t even the forever kind of guy, and here she was scared and running. Shit. How would he fix this? Had he read her wrong? He thought she felt the same as he did. Him and his big mouth. Should he let her have alone time, or would that make matters worse? Maybe she just needed time to process the information? That’s what it was. He hadn’t read her wrong, he was sure of that. Ah hell! He had to find out.

“I’ll catch you guys later too, okay?” he tossed over his shoulder has he stalked off after the love of his life.

“What did you do to her?” Becky called.

“Told her I cared!” He threw back sarcastically.

  CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

How could she let this happen? She fell for a man who was unattainable. Sure, they could write letters, make some phone calls, but then what? She was already so addicted to his touch that she couldn’t see straight. How on earth was she going to last weeks, months, years, without his touch?

Not knowing how she got there, she ended up in her favorite place, the roof. The small table and chairs from their dinner date were still there. Running her fingers gently over the back of the chair, goose bumps raised on her skin. This is where it all started really. Right here, under the stars, with the wind blowing through her hair, as he made sweet love to her. She was never going to survive this. Feeling her heart breaking into a million pieces, she fell to her knees holding her face as the tears poured from her eyes.

“Hey, what’s this?” Logan gently laid his hand on her shoulder, dropping down to surround her body with his. “Please don’t cry,” he said, holding her tightly. “Talk to me, please.”

“How did you find me?” she asked through tears.

“You weren’t in the office with Penny and James, and you said this was your favorite thinking spot. I just figured I’d find you here.”

“I don’t think I can do this Logan. I just don’t,” she sobbed.

Burning bullets had never hurt as bad as this one moment. Pain struck Logan in his heart. She was breaking up with him, right here on the rooftop where he had made love to her. Squeezing her tightly, he kissed her shoulder.

“Shh, don’t say that. Please don’t say that,” he soothed.

Shaking her head, she cried, “No, I can’t. Look at me! I’m a blubbering mess, and you haven’t even left yet, Logan! I won’t survive this, it’s going to kill me.” Dropping her face back in her hands, her body trembled from crying.

Relief surged through his body. She did feel the same as he did. In his heart though, he knew she was right, he would be broken too. His mind screamed, Run, run far away! Selfish, that’s what he was. A selfish bastard. He couldn’t let her go. In the few days he’d been with her, she had stolen his heart and locked away the key.

Twisting her in his arms, he turned her so he could see her red rimmed eyes.

“I’m a selfish bastard. I need to walk away and leave you alone right this second, but I can’t. I’ve fallen for you, Alana. I’ve fallen hard. Call me crazy if you want, I know we just met, but I swear to you, I’ve never felt this way.” Taking a deep breath, he said, “Hell, I never wanted to feel this way. But, you, you make me feel, Alana. And if I let you go, I may never feel again.”

“Oh Logan,” she whimpered, melting into his body, “I feel it too. I feel alive when I’m in your arms. What are we going to do?”

“I don’t know yet, but trust me when I say I’m going to think of something. I’m not letting you go.”

Throwing her arms around him and burying her face in the crook of his neck, she soaked up his warmth and his strength. Denying it was useless, she was in love with him. Everything about him, inside and out, she loved him without question.

“I’m not letting you go either.” Straddling his legs, she felt his growing erection pressing between her thighs. “I need you Logan. Please,” she begged, rubbing against his hardness.

“Fuck, I need you too.” Crushing into her mouth with his own, he punished her lips. “I need you so fucking much,” he said through ragged breaths.

Yanking her by her hair, he attacked her neck, nibbling and sucking on her skin. Untying her swimsuit top, baring her desirable breasts to feast on.

“Damn, you are so perfect,” he said, worshiping her nipples.

Clawing at his shirt, as she jerked if off over his head, she couldn’t get it off fast enough. Raising on her knees as he drew her swimsuit down over her hips, she freed his cock from the swimming trunks as she sunk back down.

“Now, Logan, I need you deep inside me right now!”

Taking his cock in her hands, she guided him to her opening, impaling herself on his rigid thickness. In a fevered rush, as if her life depended on it, she slid up and down his shaft.

“Harder!” she shouted, “I need you harder! I need to feel you, Logan!”

Meeting each thrust with a grunt, Logan grabbed her hips and slammed her down on his dick, giving her everything he had.

As she rolled her eyes from the sheer decadence of feeling him deep inside her, her orgasm crashed into her, hitting her so hard it knocked the air from her lungs. Each time she was with him, exceeded the last. She wasn’t sure sex should feel this good, but she was certainly glad it did.

“Oh god, Alana,” he shuddered in her arms as his own orgasm rocketed through him. “Never. I’m never letting you go.” He kissed her cheek as their hearts slowed, and they caught their breath.

“I love you, Logan,” she whispered in his ear, surprising herself.

Smiling in her hair, he hugged her against him. “I love you too.”

The Mahalo Shack was a beach bar situated directly on the beach, completely surrounded by three levels of wooden decks. Making their way through all the bikers to the lower level where the stage was located took some effort. A large dance floor faced the stage that was backed up to the beach. Dim lights set the mood as loud eighties music played over the speakers.

“I don’t know what’s worse. Spring breakers, or all these damn bikers!” Becky yelled over the music.

“Yeah, seems like the bikers are getting rowdier every year,” Alana called back.

“Hey, there’s a table over there,” Dusty shouted, pointing toward a white resin table with four chairs near the bar.

Nodding in agreement, they headed to the table. “I’ll grab some beers, is that alright with you ladies?” Logan asked, squeezing Alana’s shoulders lovingly. Never in a million years would she have thought that she would be so over the moon in love with such a wonderful man, but here she was. What she thought would be an ending to their rooftop whirlwind romance, ended in love making and a proclamation of love between them. They still weren’t sure what they were going to do, but whatever it was, they were in it together.

“Make mine a Corona with lime,” Becky shouted.

“Mine too!” called Alana with a wink.

Grinning like a fool, Logan left her with a quick heated kiss, and walked over to the shadowy bar. God what an ass on that man, she thought as he swaggered off.

As they approached the table, they noticed a group of men in a circle chanting “Go, go, go!”

“Your turn now sugar!” a feminine voice squealed from the center of the group.

  “Shelby Lynn!” they sa
id in unison.

Guys in leather vests and black motorcycle t-shirts were lined up licking salt and taking tequila shots from Shelby Lynn’s cleavage, then taking the lemon from her mouth.

“Shit. That damn girl!” Dusty stomped toward the crowd surrounding his sister.

“Dusty,” Becky grabbed him by the arm. “She’s not a girl sweetheart. She’s a grown woman, and it looks to me like she’s having consensual fun. Leave her be.” Stroking his arm, she tried to console him.

“She’s gonna get herself in trouble, that’s what’s she’s gonna do.”

“Or, maybe she wants the attention. So, storming over and making a scene will do nothing but fuel the fire.” The words burst from Alana’s lips before she had a chance to stop them.

“Let’s just keep an eye out and see how far she’ll take this.” Rubbing his back, Becky led him to the table.

A feeling of unease overwhelmed Alana as she watched Logan return to the table, intently staring at the crowd surrounding Shelby Lynn. The tick in his jaw intensified as he took a draw from his longneck bottle of beer, catching Shelby Lynn winking at him with a smirk. Although they had professed their love to one another last night, could she be wrong thinking there had never been anything between them? Had he lied to her? Something was definitely running through his head.

“Hey,” she spoke by his ear, “What’cha thinking about?”

“I’m not!” he snapped still staring in Shelby Lynn’s direction.

“Okay then,” she drew out each word. “I tell you what,” she rose from her chair, the sound scraping across the wooden planks of the floor. “When you get your head out of your ass, come find me, okay?”

Logan’s head snapped toward Alana as her luscious little body sauntered off toward the dance floor, wearing tight fitting faded jeans and a black tank top. Damn what that hot body did to him.Thinking of being buried deep inside her had him immediately hard.

What the hell was wrong with him? Sitting around worrying about Shelby Lynn’s antics, while the woman he loved was right next to him? Unfortunately, this is how it had always been though. He and Dusty, out trying to have a good time, she would always find them and get some kind of shit started. That’s how he ended up in trouble with the law and his father. Fucking Shelby Lynn. She messed with his life then, he wasn’t going to let her this time. He wasn’t losing the best thing in his life. Alana.

Jumping up from his seat, he scanned the crowd looking for Alana. Spotting her close to the stage, she was dancing by herself to “Pour Some Sugar on Me”, by Def Leopard. Tugging her arm, he caught her attention and mouthed “I’m sorry.” Rolling her eyes, she turned back toward the stage.

“Alana!” he roared over the music, as she continued to ignore him. “I said I’m sorry!”

“Leave me alone right now, Logan!” she shouted back.

With a snarl, he snatched her up, threw her over his shoulder, and headed up the stairs to the upper level deck.

  “Put me down!” she howled.

“Hey asshole,” a burly looking biker yelled, “the lady said put her down.”

“Mind your fucking business!” Logan barked back.

“This is my business,” he rumbled, pointing to the word “security” on his shirt.

“Not tonight it’s not,” Logan threw back at him, continuing up the stairs.

Scared this would escalate into a bar fight, Alana smiled at the bouncer and gave him a thumbs up, letting him know she was okay. Shaking his head, he headed back to the crowded dance floor.

Setting her on her feet, he held on arms to her sides. “I said I’m sorry! I got my head out of my ass, okay?”

“Are you sure?” she snipped, avoiding his face.

“Yes, I’m sure. If it gets me back in your good graces?”

Finally making eye contact, she asked, “What was with the attitude? Why does Shelby Lynn get under your skin so much?”

Taking a deep breath, he said “Because ever since we were kids, she’s caused trouble to follow us.” Rolling his head on his shoulders, he continued, “And knowing that she is purposely trying to cause trouble right now, pisses me off,” he rubbed her arms. “But that’s no reason to take it out on you. So, I am truly sorry. Can you forgive me?” Leaning in close, he seductively kissed her lips.

The sincerity in his eyes melted her heart. How could she not believe him?

“Of course you’re forgiven, Logan.” Wrapping her arms around his mid-section, she laid her cheek on his chest, feeling his heart pounding. “Just please talk to me, don’t shut me out.”

“I promise,” he kissed the top of her head. “You ready to go back down?”

“Yes.” She pressed a kiss to his chest, before releasing him. Walking hand in hand, they rejoined Becky and Dusty at the table.

“Where the hell did y’all go?” Dusty questioned.

“You writing a book, man? Leave that chapter out,” Logan joked, pulling the chair out for Alana.

“What the fuck ever, bro. Next time you go all caveman, let me know so I can hold back the posse.”

“Posse? You mean that fat fuck security guard?” Logan rolled his eyes, “I wasn’t worried, trust me. I had more important things on my mind.”

“Logan!” Alana exclaimed. “That’s rude! He was just doing his job.”

Shaking his head, he took her hand in his and gently kissed it. “Baby, you’re mine. No one should ever try to come between us. It would not be a wise decision on their account.”

And after tonight’s little show, Alana saw the truth in that statement. Although she thought he had acted like a neanderthal, again, she liked him showing everyone she belonged to him, especially one Miss Shelby Lynn.

After the first set of an AC/DC, tribute, Alana excused herself for a restroom break. “I’ll be right back!” she pointed in the direction of the bathroom, as she yelled over the music. “Grab me a cold Corona!”

It was an unusually hot, humid night for this time of year. Sweat droplets trickled down the sides of her face, running down her neck. Dropping her face closer to the sink to splash cool water on her heated skin, she rose to meet cynical eyes in the mirror.

“Shelby Lynn,” she acknowledged with a nod of her head.

“How’s it feel, shug?” Her exaggerated southern accent was tactless.

Annoyed, Alana asked, “How does what feel like Shelby Lynn?”

  “Filling my shoes, of course.”

Shocked, Alana caught her mouth as a harsh laugh escaped. Was she seriously going to go there?

Shelby Lynn’s eyebrows raised in surprise at Alana’s reaction.

“Sweetie, there’s a reason he’s never been in a serious relationship. He’s never gotten over me and what we shared.”

“What you shared?” Alana chastised on a laugh. “Honey, what you shared was a stolen kiss from a scared boy who was about to leave to join the army. A scared boy that pushed you away as I recall the story going.”

“Is that what he told you?” she belted out a laugh of her own. “He’s tried to protect me for all these years. The truth is, we made love that night. We made a pact so that Dusty wouldn’t find out. Logan didn’t want to leave for boot camp with his best friend mad at him ‘cause he’d fallen for his baby sister,” she said matter of factly.

“Oh yeah, that’s why he runs home to see you every chance he gets, right?”

“No, I go meet up with him when he needs me. I was there the night he wrecked his motorcycle. He was on his way to my hotel room.”

“I’m sorry, Shelby Lynn, I don’t believe a word you’re saying,” Alana said, trying to make her way to the doorway, only to be cut off by Shelby Lynn.

“Believe what you want,” she replied sarcastically. “Ask him if you
don’t believe me.”

“I don’t need to ask him. I know him. First, he loves and respects his friend way too much to risk their friendship on more than a drunken one night stand. And second, he wouldn’t touch you with someone else’s dick, much less his own. Now,” she said stepping into Shelby Lynn’s personal space, “are you going to move out of my way, or am I going to have to move you?”

“I see why you intrigue him. You’re so tiny with such a big mouth.”

“Let’s put it this way. You get the fuck out of my way, I forget this conversation ever took place and you leave us the hell alone, or….” she paused

  “Or what?” Shelby Lynn smirked.

“Or I throw that ten pound make-up bag of yours in the ocean, then ban you from the hotel.”

“You can’t do that!” she shrieked.

“Try me bitch! My uncle owns the hotel. All it takes is one phone call.” Pulling her phone from her pocket, she started dialing numbers.

“Whatever. I’m out anyway.” Rolling her eyes, Shelby Lynn turned on her heel, and left.

  CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Logan noticed Alana leaving the restroom after Shelby Lynn. Concern etched his face as Alana approached the table. “What was that about?” he asked, nodding in Shelby Lynn’s direction.

“Absolutely nothing,” she countered. “Let’s just enjoy the rest of night,” she graciously smiled. Refusing to let Shelby Lynn destroy even one second of what little time they had left together, she tried to put the whole conversation behind her. Inside, however, Shelby Lynn’s accusation that she was with him at the time of his motorcycle accident weighed heavy on her mind. Why would he keep that information from her? Eventually, they would have to talk about this, because she had to know. Although, he hadn’t lied to her, omission was a lie in itself. Lies and deceit were no way to start a relationship, and if he had been with Shelby Lynn that night, she wasn’t sure how she would handle the situation. Loving this man, and tolerating lies, were two totally different stories. Her mother and father had created a relationship built out of lies and deceit. Look how that turned out!
